This is the NFL 2017 edition that will decide whether the New England Patriots or the Atlanta Falcons are best at American Football. Simple as that. And it’s less than nine days away!
Who’s Going to Win?
You’ll have to watch to find out!
The Atlanta Falcons have never won the big prize, but The Patriots comfortably beat Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship game on Sunday January 22nd, after overcoming the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium the previous Sunday. Are they on a roll?
And yet The Falcons sent the Green Bay Packers packing in astonishing style to clinch the NFC title.
The winner will take home the Vince Lomardi trophy on Sunday February 5th.
This is the first time the two teams are going to play each other at the Super Bowl. The latest betting odds are:
New England Patriots: 4/6
Atlanta Falcons: 5/4
Where is The Super Bowl LI 2017?
Houston’s NRG Stadium has the honor of hosting the event, with its 71,795-person capacity.
The Half-Time Show
The biggest brands and advertisers still agree that the Super Bowl is the most prestigious marketing platform available today, since it draws over 200 million eyes to the half-time show performance. It’s one of the most highly anticipated parts of the event.
Who’s playing at half-time show? Lady Gaga. She certainly performed the national anthem absolutely wonderfully at last year’s Super Bowl.
But Lady Gaga, who comes from an Italian background, is not getting paid to be there. The NFL have agreed to pay all her production expenses. She will get a lot of exposure thanks to the performance, though. Last year, around 111.9 million people tuned in for the Super Bowl, the third largest audience in history. It will be great timing for Lady Gaga, who released her fifth studio album in October 2016.
Companies are willing to pay over $5 million for just 30 seconds in the spotlight, and Gaga is due to change her outfit approximately three time. You can bet on that. As well as the color of her hair, as well as whether she’ll wear a pink hat and bare her midriff.
What’s All This LI Business?
Well, although last year’s Super Bowl ditched the L and went with a 50, LI is 51 in Roman numerals. The Roman numerals system is one the Super Bowl has been using since 1971 and Super Bowl V.
Bill Belichick has lead the Patriots to seven Super Bowl championship games, winning four of them. Tom Brady was playing every time.
Tom Brady was the youngest player to ever win a Super Bowl, and is now the second youngest. He holds a number of records to date, including number of postseason games played, pass attempts, pass completions, yards gained, touchdown passes and 300-yard games.
The team has appeared in the Super Bowl nine times in franchise history, the most of any team.
The Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons have only played in the Super Bowl once before, in Super Bowl XXXIII of 1998, against the Denver Broncos, and lost 34-19. They haven’t won an NFL Championship to date.
The current head coach is called Dan Quinn. In his first season at the helm, he led the team to a 5-0 start, becoming the first coach in franchise history to begin his career with five straight wins.
The Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has had a great 2016 season, finishing the year with career highs in touchdowns, yards per pass attempt, passer rating and completion percentage. “No. 1, the guy is tough as hell,” said Quinn in a recent ESPN interview.
