Confession: Why and How I’m Writing My First Book, Part 2

A Random Idea

It’s funny how the best ideas pop into your mind at the last moment sometimes.

I was almost done with the book and then I had a sudden feeling the book was missing a major piece.

One of the most pleasurable aspects of sailing, and traveling in general, for me, is meeting people from other countries and making a little conversation in their language.

There’s nothing like rolling up to a bakery on a beautiful village street in France, for example, and making the person behind the counter smile because you just said something really cute in French.

Bonjour! Une baguette bien cuite s’il vous plaît. “they’re actually smiling/laughing, because I just “destroyed” their language……!”

So I humbly set out to hook myself up with old friends, friends of friends’, acquaintances and other cool people from all over the world and got forty-seven useful phrases translated into 18 languages.

Freaking Out

I am a firm believer that you need to scare yourself just a little bit to grow and improve in any area of life.

Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a chilled guy.

I am happy to try something new if I think it’s going to be a thrill. I think I stretched myself on this one.

The project made me freak out just enough to really make doing it worthwhile on a number of levels.

Working Hard

One hundred words is cool in theory, and easier once you’ve writing 30, but you can’t just quit half way through!

I’ve been working hard on this book for six months, building the book as I go and it’s been a really interesting journey.

I can’t wait to share the results with you. Cause the book is for you, of course, my community.

The Launch

So I’m at the point where I am almost ready for the book launch.

But I also have another treat in store for you in the next couple of weeks.

You’ll find out what it is soon! Until then, I’ll be having the time of my life polishing my first book and, well, sailing!

P.S. If you’d like to get a sneak peak at the book before anyone else, I’m currently sending out feelers for reviewers.

Let me know if you’d like to be included on the list.
